Job Description
Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer Role Summary Lead end‑to‑end systems engineering for electro‑optical and other defense systems, integrating military off‑the‑shelf (MOTS) and custom components. Acts as Design Authority, requirement manager, and configuration control lead, interfacing with customers, cross‑functional engineering teams, and project management. Expectations - Deliver technical solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements. - Maintain traceability and integrity of system requirements, designs, and documentation. - Drive integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) plans for programmes of varying size. Key Responsibilities - Capture, maintain, and trace customer and internal product requirements. - Serve as Design Authority for assigned system projects and oversee subsystem design and integration. - Define and execute IV&V strategies, drawing on product‑level verification where appropriate. - Lead system‑level configuration management and version control. - Communicate technical issues, compliance status, and V&V results with customers and stakeholders. - Produce concise technical and project documentation for internal and external audiences. - Support sales and bids by providing technical estimates, requirement analyses, and pre‑bid documentation. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to optimise product outcomes. Required Skills - 3+ years of systems engineering experience. - Proficient in requirements management, traceability, and documentation. - Demonstrated experience with IV&V of complex systems. - Strong verbal and written technical communication. - Ability to produce clear technical documentation for diverse audiences. - Familiarity with configuration management processes. Required Education & Certifications - STEM degree or equivalent vocational experience in engineering. - Knowledge of tools such as IBM DOORS Next and TestRail (preferred). - Certifications in functional safety standards (IEC 61508 or ISO 26262) and military vehicle systems standards (DEF STAN 00‑082, 23‑09, DEF STAN 00‑035, MIL‑STD‑810) are highly desirable but not mandatory. Required Education & Certifications (summary) - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent). - Systems Engineering experience: 3+ years. - Familiarity with functional safety and military standards desirable.
