Company Description
Cambashi is a global market research, industry analysis, consulting, and training firm based in Cambridge. We monitor and size the markets for engineering and industrial software such as IoT, BIM, CAD/CAM/CAE, PLM, and MOM and analyse trends and drivers. We then provide objective market intelligence to help companies with overall marketing strategy and tactical decision-making such as niche market targeting, M&A, trend analysis, and sales focusing.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Market Research Analyst at Cambashi. The Market Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting market analysis and research using analytical skills, and conducting primary research. The role is primarily located in Cambridge but allows for some remote work.
Note: You will not be using or assessing engineering/industrial software; Cambashi is not an engineering company.
Initially, this role will focus heavily on research and your responsibilities will include:
Rapidly gaining an understanding of the technical (i.e. engineering and industrial) software market, including: the main software providers, the types of software they create, and the industries and countries they serve.
Researching key metrics of software providers, including: size, market presence, growth, and performance.
Processing and modelling quantitative data, requiring proficiency with numbers, data handling, and visualisation.
Gathering qualitative research by identifying key insights, quotes, and trends, and documenting these in a clear, written format.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
We are looking for someone with the following:
A degree or equivalent experience in a technical field like mathematics, engineering, computing, or economics.
Fluency in spoken and written English, with the ability to clearly communicate findings in written, verbal, and visual formats.
A keen interest in learning about the engineering and technical software markets.
Proficiency in Excel; if you don’t know what a VLOOKUP or Pivot Table is, this role is likely not for you (for intermediate users, training materials will be provided.)
Strong numerical and analytical skills, problem solving ability, keen attention to detail.
Confidence in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
The skills outlined below are advantageous but not essential; we are open to candidates with the right abilities and enthusiasm.
A strong mid-level candidate would ideally have one or more of the following:
Prior experience in, or exposure to, the AEC industry.
Experience in market intelligence, industry analysis, or market planning.
Familiarity with technical (i.e. engineering/industrial) software (e.g. CAD, CAM, BIM, CAE, or GIS).
Other desirable attributes include:
An understanding of global economics and macro-economic terms and concepts.
Knowledge of data tools, such as Power BI and Python.
Confidence in delivering presentations and engaging with potential clients.
Opportunities for Growth
This role offers room for development based on your interests and abilities. Depending on your preferences, you could grow into areas such as:
Business development
Presenting and public speaking
Database and software development
Article writing
Data visualisation
Business intelligence.
