Job Description
**Job Title** Cybersecurity Intern **Role Summary** Assist the IT cyber‑security team by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, supporting system maintenance and user account management, and documenting technical solutions. Focus primarily on monitoring and triaging low‑rated security alerts and incidents within SIEM environments (Microsoft, Azure, Aruba, Meraki). **Expectations** * Internship minimum 12 weeks (part‑time, on‑site) from May 2026 through August 2026. * Work under guidance, learn escalation procedures, and contribute to ongoing security monitoring and incident response workflows. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Review and document low‑rated security alerts and incidents. 2. Conduct preliminary checks and triage incidents under senior guidance before escalation. 3. Monitor and review logs and alerts from SIEM systems (Microsoft, Azure, Aruba, Meraki). 4. Identify unusual activity or recurring patterns and record findings for trend analysis. 5. Track and document common alerts to support trend reporting. 6. Collect indicators of compromise (IOCs) for deeper analysis. 7. Observe how low‑rated alerts can reveal potential threats. 8. Participate in incident investigations to understand origin, impact, and resolution. 9. Document findings and develop recommendations to improve detection, reduce false positives, and enhance response times. 10. Maintain accurate notes on alerts, incidents, and follow‑up actions. 11. Contribute to process documentation for security monitoring and incident response workflows. 12. Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with training and qualifications. **Required Skills** * Basic understanding of information‑security principles (threats, vulnerabilities, incident response). * Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Team‑player willing to collaborate across departments. * Familiarity (or willingness to learn) with SIEM log monitoring and basic network/security tools (Microsoft, Azure, Aruba, Meraki). **Required Education & Certifications** * Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. * No specific certifications required; relevant coursework or training in cybersecurity is a plus.
