Job Description
Job Title: Deputy Children's Home Manager Role Summary: Support the Home Manager in the day‑to‑day operation of a three‑beded children's residential home. The Deputy ensures high standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance, while fostering staff development, promoting positive behaviour, and coordinating with external agencies. Expectations: - Lead, mentor, and evaluate staff to deliver exceptional care. - Maintain safeguarding and Ofsted compliance across all activities. - Provide consistent documentation and reporting. - Facilitate risks assessments during admissions and plan individual care. - Participate in on‑call duties and occasional sleep‑in shifts as required. Key Responsibilities: 1. Co‑manage all aspects of the home’s daily operations alongside the Home Manager. 2. Promote safeguarding and welfare of young people, ensuring education and diversity needs are met in line with regulatory frameworks. 3. Coach, support and develop staff for performance excellence and care standards. 4. Liaise with internal departments and external agencies to deliver comprehensive care plans aligned with the contract. 5. Undertake risk assessments during admissions to determine vulnerability and risk accurately. 6. Champion a positive health and safety culture, meeting company and external accreditation standards. 7. Act as a pro‑social role model, encouraging education, life‑skills, and behavioural development. 8. Build trusting, respectful, professional boundaries with residents to facilitate guidance and support. 9. Ensure all paperwork is completed to a high standard, within required timelines, and communicated effectively. 10. Support senior management in implementing development strategies to embed positive change. Required Skills: - Leadership experience in a residential or comparable children’s setting. - Strong safeguarding, risk assessment, and health & safety knowledge. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to remain calm and decisive in challenging situations. - Compassion, patience, honesty, and empathy. - Capability to coach and mentor staff toward high‐performance standards. Required Education & Certifications: - QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification. - Full UK Driving Licence (preferable). ---
