Job Title: Corporate Credit Assessment Operations Manager
Role Summary: Lead and manage a team of Corporate Credit Analysts and Specialists, overseeing all operational aspects of credit assessment for corporate customers. Implement and maintain robust controls to ensure compliance with ECB and FCA regulations and the Volkswagen Bank European Organisational Handbook. Serve as the gatekeeper for the 1st vote process, approve or decline a PS10m underwriting mandate, and ensure the function is audit‑ready.
Expectations: Deliver accurate, timely credit decisions and maintain high quality standards. Foster a high‑performing, inclusive team culture, and drive continuous improvement in processes and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Corporate Credit Assessment team, providing coaching, performance management, and development.
- Design, implement, and monitor controls aligned with ECB, FCA, and E‑OHB requirements.
- Approve or decline corporate credit proposals within a PS10m mandate for VWFS UK Fleet and VW Bank wholesale products.
- Act as the 1st vote decision authority, ensuring audit readiness and adherence to governance frameworks.
- Prepare credit applications, recommend limits, securities, and lending conditions.
- Conduct quality assurance, portfolio reviews, and annual customer reviews.
- Collaborate with data processing and risk committees to produce required reporting and risk reviews.
- Ensure secure capture and maintenance of customer data across systems (Experian, KYC, AML, End‑of‑Review, limit switches).
- Identify and implement efficiencies between VWFS and Corporate Credit Assessment workflows to support sales channels.
Required Skills:
- Proven leadership and team‑management skills with experience in coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Strong knowledge of ECB and FCA regulatory framework and experience in a regulated banking environment.
- Advanced financial analysis capabilities: interpreting balance sheets, assessing credit risk, and determining appropriate securities and limits.
- Experience as a 1st vote credit decision maker.
- Analytical mindset with ability to develop and interpret credit portfolio reports.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision‑making integrity under commercial pressure.
- Superior organizational abilities, multitasking, and deadline management.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
- Professional certification such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in corporate credit assessment within a regulated banking context.
