Position Summary
MotoAmerica is seeking a Director of Retail Marketing with prior employment and/or a background in Motorsports. This includes Automotive or Motorcycle racing. Please do not apply if you do not meet either one of those requirements.
The Director of Retail Marketing oversees the strategic planning, development, and execution of all national and regional marketing and advertising campaigns that drive event ticket sales, MotoAmerica Live+ subscriptions, and merchandise revenue. The role manages multi-channel marketing tactics--including digital, social, traditional media, fan engagement, and co-branded initiatives with track partners--and provides leadership to the Ticketing Operations Manager, ensuring ticketing systems, pricing, reconciliation, and customer communications align with overall sales goals. The Director collaborates with agencies, internal departments, and external partners to deliver innovative, data-driven campaigns while maintaining budgetary control and brand integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Ticketing Oversight
* Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and performance management for the Ticketing Operations Manager.
* Approve ticket pricing structures, discount strategies, VIP and special packages, ensuring alignment with revenue goals.
* Review and validate weekly and post-event ticketing reports, 21-day trend analyses, and customer insights to inform marketing pivots.
* Collaborate with Ticketing Operations Manager to fulfill contractual ticket obligations for sponsors, partners, and bulk requests.
* Oversee customer communication plans for ticket buyers, ensuring messaging cadence integrates with broader marketing campaigns.
* Support resolution of escalated customer service issues related to ticketing and fan experience.
* Ensure timely reconciliation of ticket sales and revenue with track partners following each event.
Budgeting & Planning
* Develop and manage a master marketing budget covering evergreen content, event-specific campaigns, MotoAmerica Live+, and merchandise initiatives.
* Maintain regional budget allocations by track and event, plus national season-wide oversight, incorporating holiday promotions and discount offers.
* Reconcile monthly actuals to budget, ensuring financial accuracy and cost control.
* Build and maintain an integrated national and regional marketing calendar.
Creative Development & Asset Management
* Oversee creation of digital, social, video, TV, radio, outdoor, and print assets in collaboration with agencies and internal teams.
* Maintain brand consistency across all consumer touchpoints, including newsletters, website content, and participant communications.
* Direct development of series and class logos, podium graphics, sponsorship collateral, and the VIP magazine.
Campaign Execution
* Lead digital and social campaigns, testing creative variations and optimizing for ROAS, CTR, and conversions.
* Manage OOH, TV, and radio media buys--partnering with agencies on strategy, placement, and analytics.
* Coordinate ground-level and grassroots promotions with local businesses, dealerships, and track sponsors.
Partner Track Collaboration
* Develop co-marketing plans with partner tracks and attend pre-event operations meetings to ensure tactical alignment.
* Distribute approved creative materials, timelines, and best practices to track marketing teams.
MotoAmerica Live+ Integration
* Integrate Live+ subscription marketing into event-specific and evergreen campaigns.
* Coordinate paid media messaging, placement, and performance tracking with external agencies.
Street Team & Grassroots Marketing
* Identify and activate regional street teams to increase brand presence in key markets.
* Coordinate materials and deliverables with vendors for dealership activations and community events.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
* Participate in weekly marketing and media meetings, ensuring cohesive strategy across PR, sponsorship, and content teams.
* Provide regular campaign and ticket sales updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
Trade Shows & Event Marketing
* Manage MotoAmerica's presence at three annual industry trade shows--overseeing booth design, production, shipping, and on-site execution.
* Represent MotoAmerica professionally at trade shows and industry events.
Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience in marketing with a strong focus on live event or sports marketing.
