Scrum Master
Toronto, ON (hybrid)
12 months' contract (possible)
Line of business :: Capital Markets
Ideal Candidate :: Looking for senior scrum master with capital market experience, Jira and Clarity experience, eclipse experience, strong presentation skills, can handle multiple pods, Golang experience would be an asset.
Team coordination
- Facilitate all Scrum events (Planning, Daily Scrum, Refinement, Review, Retro) on time and outcome-focused.
- Align team on Sprint Goal; manage capacity, commitments, and dependencies.
- Maintain Working Agreements, Definition of Ready (DoR), and Definition of Done (DoD).
- Remove impediments quickly; escalate when needed.
- Coordinate cross-team work (Scrum of Scrums), releases, and handoffs.
Stakeholder communication
- Provide clear, timely updates on scope, progress, risks, and decisions.
- Facilitate demos and feedback loops; ensure stakeholder expectations are managed.
- Communicate dependency status and impacts; drive alignment on priorities.
- Maintain a simple communication plan (who/what/when/how).
Status reporting
- Keep tooling current (e.g., Jira hygiene: states, estimates, links).
- Publish dashboards and summaries: sprint burndown, release burn-up, velocity, cumulative flow, WIP/blocked.
- Send a brief weekly update: accomplishments, plan, risks/RAID, changes.
- Forecast outcomes based on empirical data; highlight variance early.
Scrum guidelines and coaching
- Uphold Scrum values and timeboxes; prevent anti-patterns (over-commitment, scope creep, proxy PO).
- Coach PO on backlog ordering, slicing, acceptance criteria, and readiness.
- Ensure quality gates: DoR/DoD, peer reviews, test coverage, and definition compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement via retros with actionable experiments and follow-through.
Must Have Requirement:
Scrum Master experience - 7+ years
Jira and Confluence - 5 years
Clarity - 3 years
Experience with handling multiple pods - 5 years
Strong communication and presentation skills
Nice to Have:
Capital market experience
Eclipse experience
Knowledge of Golang
