About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Agile Delivery Manager to oversee multiple projects with a strong focus on adhering to Government Digital Service (GDS) principles. In this role, you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver user-centered, iterative, and data-driven solutions while ensuring compliance with GDS standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, GDS frameworks, and the ability to manage and guide teams through the discovery, Alpha, beta, and live phases of service development.
Key Responsibilities
GDS Delivery Leadership:
Ensure projects are delivered in line with GDS service standards, including preparing for and leading service assessments.
Embed GDS principles into all aspects of delivery, from user-centered design to performance monitoring and iterative improvement.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including product managers, designers, and developers, to deliver services that meet user needs.
Agile Facilitation and Management:
Act as a servant leader, removing impediments and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure teams are aligned and effective.
Manage team dynamics and support high performance across projects.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their needs are considered throughout delivery.
Clearly communicate project progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
Align project goals with organizational priorities while ensuring user needs remain central.
Continuous Delivery and Improvement:
Drive a culture of experimentation and learning, using data to inform decisions and refine solutions.
Monitor project delivery metrics and feedback to ensure compliance with GDS principles.
Support the team in identifying opportunities for iteration and improvement across services.
Risk Management and Governance:
Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and constraints proactively.
Ensure delivery aligns with governance requirements, including GDS standards and organizational policies.
Prepare teams and stakeholders for GDS service assessments, ensuring readiness and alignment.
Skills and Experience Required
Agile Expertise:
Strong experience in Agile delivery management, with a focus on iterative and user-centered approaches.
Knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
GDS Knowledge:
Demonstrable experience in delivering projects to GDS standards, including passing GDS service assessments.
Deep understanding of GDS principles, including user-centered design, agile delivery, and iterative improvements.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and manage stakeholder expectations.
Communication and Stakeholder Management:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Experience working with public sector organizations or government departments is highly desirable.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
Skilled in identifying and resolving delivery challenges, ensuring projects stay on track.

- Get stuck in immediately to a database migration using Snowflake. This company work across various energy and commodities markets across the world. We appreciate that not everyone wants to work within Oil and Gas trading, however, part of the role of the data team is to look at more sustainable options for trading all kinds of commodities products. You’re going to be getting involved with a number of newly launched data projects, with your initial project being to work on this migration. You’ll face off with the business (Heads of Desk, Traders, Analysts), understanding what they need, discussing solutions with the Data Science team, then building out the best solution possible, whether it be with an off the shelf product, or building it completely from scratch using primarily Python and SQL. The data team has grown over the past 12-18 months, with data engineering still being built out in London. There’s a strong opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities, so if management is in your sights and ambitions, you’ll be able to achieve that here. The team are using more advanced technology as time goes on and you’ll be able to suggest potential tools to use. Snowflake is one of the examples of this, as it’s recently been brought into the team on suggestion of one of the team and is now being widely used. Alternatively, if there’s a ready customised tool within AWS that you feel is a better option, then you can use that. There really is plenty of technical freedom here. In terms of your technical experience you’ll need to have worked in a commercial data engineering role for a few years, this is a mid-level position. Strong Python, Snowflake and SQL experience will be required and any experience of working with tools like Docker/Kubernetes and AWS would be a huge preference. Commodities experience/knowledge is not required but would be a plus. This is a global commodities firm with a strong history of performance and revenue. Your starting salary will be up to £130,000 plus a performance related bonus.
