About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This leadership role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure cloud infrastructure and continuous delivery pipelines across various environments including Development, Staging, UAT, and Production. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern DevOps practices, cloud architecture, and security governance, with a strong preference for expertise in Azure, although experience with other major cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is also valued.
You will lead a team of engineers, collaborate closely with development, QA, and security teams, and drive automation initiatives to optimize deployment processes and infrastructure reliability. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high availability, security, and performance of our cloud-based systems, aligning with best practices and industry standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure leadership, and cloud security
Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure; experience with AWS or GCP is also acceptable
Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Azure Bicep, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages
Experience with version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or SVN
Practical knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, and GitHub Actions
Deep understanding of cloud networking, security protocols, and compliance frameworks
Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-400, AZ-104, AZ-305) are preferred or willingness to obtain them
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Based in Toronto with the ability to attend the office at least two days per week
Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to ensure efficient software delivery
Architect and manage cloud infrastructure utilizing IaC tools such as Azure Bicep and Terraform, ensuring scalability and security
Define and implement infrastructure and security strategies aligned with Azure or other cloud platforms
Drive automation across build, test, deployment, and monitoring processes to enhance operational efficiency
Oversee security governance, compliance, and risk mitigation for cloud environments
Collaborate with development, QA, and security teams to facilitate seamless and secure deployments
Monitor system performance, optimize infrastructure for high availability and scalability
Lead incident response, disaster recovery planning, and resolution efforts
Establish and enforce DevOps standards, best practices, and governance policies
Mentor and guide engineering teams on infrastructure, security, and DevOps methodologies
Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures
Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of production systems in line with industry standards
Benefits
Competitive salary range of $130,000 – $175,000 CAD, commensurate with experience and qualifications
