Compensation Range: $170,000 / year - $190,000 / year + 20-25% Bonus
Job Description:
Lead and build the client's global cybersecurity function, overseeing security strategy, operations, governance, and awareness in a lean, high-impact environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Own all cybersecurity strategy and operations globally.
Oversee and manage the external SOC and broader security operations.
Lead SIEM strategy, tool selection, configuration, and monitoring processes.
Continuously assess and improve security posture across applications, infrastructure, and platforms.
Define and roll out security roadmaps, standards, and policies.
Evaluate and recommend security tools, vendors, and service providers.
Determine initial and future cybersecurity headcount needs.
Lead organization-wide security training, phishing simulations, and awareness campaigns.
Provide periodic security updates to leadership and internal stakeholders.
Hire and develop a small cybersecurity team (1–2 analysts).
Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to maintain a service-oriented security culture.
Requirements:
Must-Haves:
8+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience (analyst/engineer → manager → director/sr. director).
Experience owning or heavily influencing cybersecurity strategy.
Strong security operations background: SIEM, monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark), incident detection/response.
Ability to assess and optimize existing tools, processes, and security posture.
Experience in mid-to-large organizations (~1,000–4,000+ employees) and matrixed environments.
Comfortable leading cybersecurity with lean resources; practical with budgets.
Growth mindset; stays current on evolving cyber trends and AI.
Service-oriented communicator with strong internal customer service approach.
Down-to-earth, collaborative, low-ego, cultural fit mindset.
Proven self-starter able to develop a plan and direction from day one.
Stable tenure with limited short stints (unless well justified).
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience in sports, entertainment, or agency environments.
Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.).
College degree preferred but not required for exceptional practitioners.
Comfortable representing cybersecurity in internal forums or quarterly updates.
Familiarity with varied monitoring/security tools beyond baseline requirements.
