Platform Engineer

Overview

Our client, a fast-growing UK financial services organisation, is investing in its cloud networking capability as part of a wider platform transformation. They are looking for a Platform Network Engineer with strong cloud networking expertise across Azure (essential) and GCP (desirable), capable of designing and building secure, scalable multi-region environments.

This is not a pure DevOps role; strong, hands-on networking depth is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build secure cloud networking architectures across Azure and GCP
Own virtual networks, routing, segmentation, and hybrid connectivity
Implement and manage cloud firewalls, load balancers, CDN/edge services, and traffic management
Design multi-region high-availability and disaster recovery networking solutions
Embed network security controls aligned to regulated industry standards
Automate infrastructure using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
Partner with Security and Engineering teams to improve network reliability and resilience

Required Experience

Strong Azure cloud networking experience (essential)
Experience with GCP networking (desirable)
Deep understanding of routing, firewalls, DNS, load balancing, and traffic management
Experience with next-generation firewalls and centralised policy management
Hands-on experience building (not just maintaining) cloud network infrastructure
Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform preferred)
Experience operating in regulated or security-focused environments
