Job Description
Job title: Merchandising Manager (f/m) Role Summary: Lead and evolve the national merchandising strategy for a nationwide building materials distribution network. Define, implement, and continuously improve store concepts, layout, signage, and visual merchandising across all locations. Manage budgets, performance metrics, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure a consistent and high‑quality customer experience. Expectations: - Deliver a cohesive merchandising vision aligned with marketing and business objectives. - Drive measurable performance gains through strategic initiatives such as store openings, remodels, and major relocations. - Provide effective leadership to merchandising project managers, fostering skill development and a culture of innovation. - Maintain compliance with financial, operational, and safety standards while maximizing product visibility and sales. Key Responsibilities: 1. Develop and refine the overarching merchandising strategy in partnership with marketing leadership. 2. Define store layout, signage, and customer experience guidelines across the network. 3. Plan and execute merchandising action plans (openings, remodels, major relocations). 4. Establish KPIs, report performance to senior management, and adjust tactics accordingly. 5. Prepare and manage annual merchandising budgets, working closely with finance. 6. Supervise and coach merchandising project managers, allocating projects and setting priorities. 7. Coordinate with product, marketing, logistics, operations, and construction teams to align merchandising concepts with operational constraints. 8. Participate in project steering committees and supplier tender processes. 9. Champion continuous improvement by evaluating tools, technologies, and retail trends. 10. Ensure consistent application of merchandising standards across all depots. Required Skills: - Strong analytical, synthesis, and communication capabilities. - Proven cross‑functional leadership and influence without direct authority. - Structured problem‑solving mindset with solution orientation. - Resilience and adaptability in demanding environments. - Active listening, teamwork, and collaborative approach. Required Education & Certifications: - Master’s degree or equivalent (Bac+5) in commerce, retail, merchandising, or related field. - Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in merchandising or retail operations (preferred).
