**Job Title:** Vice President of Technology **Role Summary:** Strategic technology leader responsible for defining and evolving the company’s core architecture, scalability, reliability, and compliance. Partners with the VP of Engineering and executive team to translate business goals into a sustainable, cost‑effective technical foundation for a fast‑growing scale‑up. **Expactations:** - Own the technical backbone and cost structure while ensuring agility. - Balance long‑term architectural vision with pragmatic, fast‑paced delivery. - Act as the primary architectural authority and mentor for senior engineers. - Communicate technical trade‑offs clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. - Maintain hands‑on involvement in design reviews, incident response, and critical decisions. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Define and continuously improve cloud‑native architecture to support rapid growth. 2. Ensure platform scalability, reliability, performance, and security compliance. 3. Lead platform engineering and developer experience initiatives (CI/CD, observability, automation, testing). 4. Manage technical cost optimization (cloud, tooling, infrastructure). 5. Guide architectural trade‑offs, prevent tech debt, and champion quality standards. 6. Collaborate with VP of Engineering, CISO, CTO, product, and other executives. 7. Oversee incident response and support critical technical decisions. **Required Skills:** - 10+ years in technical leadership (start‑up/scale‑up or platform‑driven environments). - Proven experience scaling teams and systems of 30‑100 engineers. - Deep expertise in cloud‑native architectures, distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines. - Strong background in platform engineering and developer experience. - Ability to review code, mentor engineers, and influence technical direction without daily coding. - Excellent collaboration and communication skills; capable of translating complex concepts for executives. - Low‑ego, high‑trust leadership style; comfortable working in complementary senior roles. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. - No specific certifications required, but demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern DevOps practices is expected.
