**Job Title** Security Officer **Role Summary** Provide round‑the‑clock security for a healthcare setting, safeguarding patients, staff, visitors and property. Act as the first responder to emergencies, maintain order, support investigations and protect confidential information. **Expectations** - Uphold highest standards of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. - Serve as an ambassador for the Trust, displaying professionalism and impartiality. - Adhere strictly to NHS, DPA 2018, Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, CCTV/BWVC Code of Practice and Trust procedures. - Demonstrate full compliance with right‑to‑work requirements. **Key Responsibilities** - Patrol premises to deter and detect incidents. - Respond promptly to alarms, medical emergencies, fires, violence or aggressive behaviour. - Conduct physical interventions, restraint, and control of violent persons in accordance with legal and Trust policy. - Operate and monitor CCTV systems, reviewing footage and maintaining logs. - Compile accurate incident reports, witness statements and logbooks. - Provide testimony during investigations and audits. - Maintain patient confidentiality, following NHS Data Protection and Information Sharing protocols. - Assist in crowd control and visitor screening. - Participate in regular training, drills and briefings. **Required Skills** - Conflict resolution and de‑escalation techniques. - Ability to interact calmly with a diverse public and staff. - Proficiency in emergency response and first aid. - Strong observational and reporting abilities. - Basic knowledge or experience with CCTV operation. - Excellent communication, both verbal and written. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. **Required Education & Certifications** - UK right‑to‑work (citizenship, permanent residence, or valid visa). - Completed Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. - Security Officer licence or equivalent certification. - Basic first‑aid qualification. - Optional: Advanced restraint training, CCTV operator qualification, or NHS‑specific security training. ---
