Job Description
**Job Title** Commercial Manager – France (Wine – Large Retail, Wholesalers & Independent Distributors) **Role Summary** Lead the development and execution of the French commercial strategy for a major wine producer. Secure and expand existing accounts, acquire new key customers across large retail chains, wholesale, and independent distributors, and build a sustainable pipeline to drive revenue growth. **Expectations** - Design and implement a medium‑to‑long‑term growth plan aligned with corporate objectives. - Achieve sales targets through effective negotiation, margin management, and relationship building. - Act as the primary point of succession for key national accounts. - Represent the brand as a knowledgeable ambassador of French wine appellations. **Key Responsibilities** - Deploy the national commercial policy in line with overall strategy. - Protect and grow current agreements and market share. - Identify and open new accounts with national and regional purchasing centers, hard‑discount chains, and cash‑&‑carry operators. - Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotional terms with central buying groups. - Build and manage a network of commercial agents and monitor agency performance. - Provide regular sales activity reporting to the Commercial Director and co‑pilot target achievement. **Required Skills** - Proven track record (5–10 years) in B2B sales within the French large‑retail and wine/spirits sector. - Strong negotiation and deal‑closing abilities; adept at margin analysis. - Extensive network of contacts in national purchasing centers, wholesalers, and independent distributors. - Deep understanding of OFF‑TRADE and ON‑TRADE channels, commercial contracts, legal aspects, and brand protection. - Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills; confident, results‑driven personality. - Passionate wine knowledge, capable of tasting and articulating appellation characteristics. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Economics, or a related field (e.g., Business School diploma). - No specific certifications required, but a strong background in wine commerce and relevant industry training is advantageous.
