Job title: Software Engineer (Backend)
Role summary: Design, build, and operate scalable backend services—including APIs, integrations, reporting, and data-driven workflows—for a platform that verifies employment and income records. Own the full software development lifecycle from requirements to production support, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement.
Expectations: Own end‑to‑end delivery of features; collaborate closely with product, data science, and other engineers; communicate technical decisions clearly to all stakeholders; deliver changes frequently while maintaining high quality and reliability.
Key responsibilities:
- Own development lifecycle: requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
- Design, build, and operate backend services, APIs, integrations, reporting, and data‑focused systems on AWS.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to shape technical solutions and enable data‑driven product capabilities.
- Monitor, debug, and continuously improve production systems.
- Deliver frequent, safe releases balancing speed with quality.
- Communicate technical trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Contribute to engineering culture through feedback, collaboration, and ownership.
Required skills:
- Strong experience building backend systems in production (Python, Node.js).
- Proficiency with AWS infrastructure and modern backend architectures.
- Practice of Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing.
- Comfortable with pair programming and highly collaborative development practices.
- End‑to‑end systems ownership—design, build, deploy, monitor, and support.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Curious, proactive, and willing to learn new tools and techniques.
Required education & certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
