DeGould Ltd is a privately held British company that has received significant global investment.

In 2012 founder Dan Gould deemed the process of renting a car and the well-known handover and inspection process to be outdated and inconsistent. Using his background in digital imaging he set out to find a solution and developed an automated photo booth.

In 2014 Jaguar Land Rover approached DeGould looking to solve a similar problem in their supply chain, a problem shared by all OEMs both in manufacturing and finished vehicle logistics.

Today, DeGould has automated vehicle imaging solutions installed with leading OEMs and supply chain partners across the world. At the same time, the team continues to develop the technology and are leading the way in delivering AI-led solutions based on real data to an ever-growing and satisfied customer base.

Job Description

Job Title: Head of Machine Learning Role Summary: Lead the design, implementation, and scaling of machine‑learning products, bridging R&D and production. Drive MLOps best practices, manage model quality, and oversee a team of ML leads. Expectations: - Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels. - Act as a multiplier, influencing cross‑functional teams to adopt ML practices. - Ensure high‑quality, production‑ready models and maintain rigorous performance monitoring. Key Responsibilities: - Own end‑to‑end delivery of Spec Check and Defect Detection products. - Implement MLOps pipelines for training, detection, segmentation, and classification models. - Collaborate with Product, R&D, Engineering, and CTO to form a new Data Science delivery team. - Translate R&D concepts into deliverable products with clear delivery paths. - Manage and coach ML team leads, providing feedback and accountability. - Champion ML best practices organization‑wide. - Monitor and optimize model performance using relevant metrics. Required Skills: - Strong communication and stakeholder engagement. - Proficiency in Python (NumPy, pandas, seaborn, matplotlib, dvc, streamlit, OpenCV). - Knowledge of modern programming paradigms (OOP, functional). - Clean, robust coding practices with error handling. - Experience with PyTorch, Keras, TensorFlow, or Nvidia TAO (TLT). - Working knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ECS, EKS, CloudWatch). - MLOps/DevOps experience, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions). - Technical understanding of CNNs (YOLOv4/5, Detectron2). - Ability to define and apply ML performance metrics. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Certifications in ML/MLOps or cloud platforms are a plus but not mandatory.
