Job Description
**Job Title:** Teaching Assistant **Role Summary:** Part‑time (≈17.5 hrs/week) Teaching Assistant in a primary academy (ages 2‑11). Works closely with teachers to support pupil learning, promote independence, self‑esteem and social inclusion, and ensure all children can access the curriculum. **Expectations:** - Work mornings on a fixed schedule. - Partner with classroom teachers to improve pupil attainment. - Demonstrate patience, empathy and a calm demeanor with diverse learners. - Engage and motivate students to participate actively. - Commit to completing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship (or equivalent) if not already qualified. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils during lessons. - Assist with preparation and delivery of learning resources. - Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe environment. - Encourage pupil independence, confidence and inclusion in all activities. - Supervise pupils during transitions, breaks and extracurricular periods. - Contribute to observation notes and informal assessment data. - Follow safeguarding policies; attend mandatory training and development sessions. **Required Skills:** - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to relate to children of varied ages and needs. - Organizational skills and attention to detail. - Collaborative mindset; able to work effectively with teachers and staff. - Basic knowledge of differentiated learning strategies. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) **or** willingness to work towards it. - Enhanced DBS check (required for all appointments). - Relevant safeguarding and first‑aid training (provided or existing).
