Job Title: Head of Communications (Maternity Cover)
Role Summary
Lead global communications strategy for an international humanitarian organization, coordinating external brand, advocacy, and fundraising support across multiple regions. Oversee a multidisciplinary communications team, develop content, manage crises, and advise senior leadership on strategic messaging.

- Deliver a fully integrated communications and marketing plan aligned with organizational strategy.
- Maintain brand reputation, manage risks and crisis communications.
- Foster collaboration among alliance members, internal teams, and external partners.
- Provide actionable insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate global communication strategy and marketing initiatives.
- Develop communication guidelines, policies, content calendar, and campaign frameworks.
- Produce creative, compelling content on programmes, research, advocacy, and fundraising.
- Lead and inspire a multi‑functional communications team; promote innovative work practices.
- Act as crisis focal point for internal and external communications.
- Advise CEO and partners on strategic messaging and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate with global grants, research, and fundraising teams to ensure consistent messaging.
- Serve as liaison for alliance communication needs and support internal information sharing.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership of large, globally distributed communications and marketing teams.
- Strategic thinking, critical analysis, and integrated storytelling for high‑profile brands.
- Expertise in content marketing, global campaigns, PR, and brand identity.
- Crisis management experience with rapid, professional response to reputational risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional fluency in Arabic, Dutch, French, or Spanish preferred.
- Strong network of professional contacts; ability to build relationships across cultures.
- Team‑building and people‑management proficiency.
Required Education & Certifications
- Higher education degree (Bachelor or Master) in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field.
- Background in humanitarian affairs, development, or child rights strongly preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PRSA, CPC, CMI) a plus.
