**Job Title**
Research Officer – Part Time (22 hrs per week)
**Role Summary**
Conduct, manage and deliver research projects that inform RNLI decisions. Work with multiple internal departments to design surveys, perform qualitative studies, commission external research, and translate findings into actionable insights.
**Expectations**
- Achieve research objectives within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders, including research customers, suppliers and senior decision-makers.
- Demonstrate an ethical, evidence‑based approach and uphold RNLI values (trust, courage, self‑lessness, dependability).
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Scope, plan and execute diverse internal research projects (surveys, depth interviews, focus groups).
2. Design and test survey instruments (e.g., Qualtrics) and analyse quantitative data.
3. Facilitate and analyse qualitative research, including interview and focus group design and moderation.
4. Identify, negotiate, and manage external research suppliers to ensure high‑quality deliverables at value‑for‑money.
5. Present research findings and recommendations to senior audiences in engaging, concise formats.
6. Build and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders across Lifesaving, Fundraising, Marketing, Media and People Departments.
7. Maintain project documentation and reporting, ensuring compliance with data protection and ethical standards.
**Required Skills**
- Proven expertise in quantitative survey design, data analysis, and reporting.
- Proven expertise in qualitative research design, facilitation, and analysis (depth interviews, focus groups).
- Experience managing concurrent projects for diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with survey software, preferably Qualtrics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages for senior audiences.
- Proactive, inquisitive, and able to work independently within a part‑time schedule.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Degree in Social Science, Market Research, Statistics, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Certification or demonstrated experience with survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics).
