Job Description
**Job title:** Nuclear Project Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead project engineering for spent nuclear fuel management, deactivation pool emptying, and decommissioning activities. Collaborate with project managers, customers, and regulatory bodies to deliver engineering solutions, oversee procurement, contract management, and equipment manufacturing, and provide technical support to plant operators. **Expectations:** - Provide end‑to‑end project engineering support in nuclear decommissioning. - Manage procurement and contract stages and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. - Serve as technical liaison between customers, plant operators, and Belgian safety authorities. - Assist in reviewing safety documentation for spent fuel and waste casks. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Draft requests for quotation (RFQ), evaluate bids, and support negotiation with suppliers. 2. Follow contract lifecycle from kick‑off through site delivery to acceptance tests. 3. Coordinate equipment manufacturing oversight in close contact with the Quality Surveillance group. 4. Offer technical expertise and on‑site support to customers and plant operators. 5. Liaise with Belgian safety authorities on technical and safety issues. 6. Organize and participate in safety file reviews for spent fuel, radioactive waste casks, and damaged spent fuel treatment. **Required Skills:** - Project engineering in nuclear decommissioning or related sectors. - Strong procurement, contract, and quality assurance knowledge. - Ability to analyze RFQs, evaluate vendor capabilities, and negotiate terms. - Excellent communication skills in French and/or Dutch and English. - Proactive, assertive, and self‑controlled teamwork orientation. - Knowledge of safety regulations and documentation for spent fuel and radioactive waste. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics, or Nuclear Physics. - Minimum 6 years engineering experience, including at least 2 years in the nuclear sector. - Certifications in project management, safety, or quality (e.g., PMP, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) preferred but not mandatory.
