**Job Title:** Data Lineage Engineer (Data Engineer) **Role Summary** Design, reverse‑engineer, and document end‑to‑end data flows across heterogeneous systems to support governance, audit, and operational improvements. Create visual lineage models, populate metadata repositories, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate, maintainable documentation. **Expectations** - Deliver comprehensive data lineage documentation within the engagement period. - Ensure documentation meets governance platform standards. - Communicate findings clearly to system owners, SMEs, and technical teams. **Key Responsibilities** - Inventory structured, semi‑structured, and unstructured data sources. - Reverse engineer stored procedures and database objects using SQL. - Map ETL pipelines, APIs, integrations, and batch processes end‑to‑end. - Develop visual data movement models for BI tools, applications, and data lakes. - Populate and maintain metadata in tools such as Purview or equivalent. - Contribute lineage insights to the organization’s Data Dictionary. - Produce high‑quality, standardised documentation for governance platforms. - Collaborate with system owners and SMEs to validate accuracy. **Required Skills** - Strong SQL proficiency; experience reverse‑engineering stored procedures. - Proven background in ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration technologies. - Ability to map complex data flows across heterogeneous systems. - Experience with metadata management or data catalogue tools (e.g., Purview). - Familiarity with API integrations, workflow automation, and legacy systems. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure services: Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake, Lakehouse. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. - Certifications in Azure Data Services (e.g., AZ-303, AZ-304) or SQL Server are preferred.
