**Job Title:** Managing Privacy Counsel
**Role Summary:**
Senior attorney responsible for leading the Data Privacy legal team, shaping and executing global privacy strategies, and providing expert counsel on privacy laws and data protection matters across the organization. Acts as a strategic partner to business units, collaborates with cross‑functional teams, and ensures compliance with evolving privacy regulations.
**Expectations:**
- Provide proactive, business‑aligned legal guidance on privacy, data protection, and AI‑related issues.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing privacy counsel team.
- Drive enterprise‑wide privacy compliance programs and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Influence stakeholders without direct authority and foster a collaborative, inclusive culture.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Set strategic direction and oversee daily operations of the privacy legal team.
- Advise on compliance with global, federal, state, and local privacy statutes (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, China PIPL).
- Negotiate, draft, and review privacy and data‑protection clauses in commercial agreements.
- Partner with procurement, product, engineering, security, and other functions to embed privacy considerations into product and service lifecycles.
- Design, implement, and manage privacy regulatory programs and incident‑response processes.
- Provide contextual legal advice grounded in market, product, and competitive insights.
- Coach, mentor, and develop talent within the privacy team.
**Required Skills:**
- Deep expertise in global privacy laws and their commercial application.
- Proven track record in building and managing regulatory compliance programs.
- Strong negotiation and contract‑drafting abilities.

**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar license in at least one U.S. state, in good standing.
- Preferred privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CPIM).
- Senior legal leadership experience in a U.S.-based, globally operating organization (public‑company experience a plus).
