**Role Summary**
The BESS Engineer leads the engineering, execution, and operation phases of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. Responsibilities encompass detailed design, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and post‑installation technical support. The role requires balancing technical excellence with schedule, budget, and contractual objectives across multi‑disciplinary project teams.
**Expectations**
- Deliver on‑time, within‑budget, and specification‑compliant BESS projects.
- Manage supplier performance, conduct factory acceptance tests, and oversee site commissioning.
- Provide ongoing technical support during operations, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with vendors.
- Maintain close collaboration with EPC teams, procurement, and local field crews.
- Communicate effectively in French and English; additional language skills are advantageous.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and validate detailed BESS solutions (batteries, inverters, HVAC, transformers, switchgear).
- Author design calculations, schematic drawings, and technical notes.
- Review and challenge proposed designs to optimize performance and cost.
- Coordinate and supervise factory acceptance testing for BESS components.
- Plan and execute site commissioning: connection checks, functional and performance testing, and hand‑over procedures.
- Monitor system performance during operation, resolve technical problems, and support annual maintenance.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with contracts and technical specifications.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, progress reports, and technical briefings.
**Required Skills**
- Electrical engineering with strong knowledge of power systems, AC/DC fundamentals, and low‑voltage protection.
- Proven expertise in BESS technology and components (battery modules, inverters, HVAC, transformers, TGBT).
- Experience with factory acceptance testing and field commissioning of electrical systems.
- Ability to analyse and optimize engineering designs under commercial constraints.
- Project management skills: schedule tracking, budget oversight, and contractual negotiation.
- Fluency in French and English; proficiency in a third language (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese) is a plus.
- Hands‑on field experience with EPC execution, including coordination with construction crews.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related generalist engineering discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer, Electrical Safety, BMS Specialist) are desirable.
- Documented experience in EPC project execution and BESS deployment.
