Job Description
Job title: Fire & Security Service Engineer Role Summary: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs for fire alarm, CCTV, intruder detection, and access control systems, ensuring compliance with British Standards and customer satisfaction. Expactations: Deliver timely, high‑quality service, maintain accurate records, communicate clearly with clients, manage emergency call‑outs, and recommend system improvements to reduce false alarms and enhance reliability. Key Responsibilities: - Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance of fire, CCTV, intruder, and access control systems. - Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults; carry out minor system upgrades and cable terminations. - Coordinate with service administrators and internal stakeholders to meet service schedules and commitments. - Respond to emergency call‑outs and alarm events. - Communicate system status and recommendations to customers and internal teams. - Ensure compliance with applicable British Standards, safety regulations, and manufacturer instructions. - Log all service activities and update service administration records. Required Skills: - Practical experience servicing fire and security systems to British Standards. - Ability to identify and test all fire detection and security cable types, and correctly terminate cables. - Logical approach to fault diagnosis and rectification. - Excellent verbal and written communication; strong customer service orientation. - Understanding of building services and fire alarm interface testing. - Basic Electrical Safety (ECA) and related safety training. Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum secondary education or equivalent technical qualification. - Basic Electrical Safety (ECA) certification. - Industry‑specific training or certification in fire alarm, CCTV, intruder, or access control systems (e.g., Gent, Notifier, Protec, HikVision, etc.) preferred.
