Job Description
Job Title: Senior Engineer Role Summary: Full‑stack data and software engineer supporting the Sustainability and Physical Markets team. Responsible for designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, enterprise data models, and integrations across platforms such as Salesforce, LMEpassport, and LMEsword. Works closely with business stakeholders and external vendors to deliver production‑grade solutions, drive data quality, and ensure regulatory compliance. Expectations: Deliver reliable, high‑quality data and software solutions that meet strategic objectives. Exhibit strong problem‑solving skills, lead root‑cause analysis, and continuously improve data infrastructure and governance. Serve as a technical liaison between development teams and non‑technical stakeholders, providing clear status updates and risk communication. Required Skills: - 5+ years of data or software engineering experience, including production‑grade systems in regulated or financial sectors. - Full‑stack development: Java (Spring Boot), React, Python. - Proficiency with Apache Airflow, Spark, Kafka, dbt, Snowflake, or similar data engineering and analytics platforms. - Expertise in data pipeline validation, governance, and quality assurance. - Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. - Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (MiFID II, GDPR, SOX) and data governance best practices. **Job Title** Senior Application and Platform Engineer **Role Summary** Deliver Level 2–3 technical support focused on reliability, resilience and automation for mission‑critical trading and market data applications. Blend SRE principles with platform engineering to ensure stability, scalability, and continuous improvement across physical, virtual, and containerised environments. **Expectations** - Maintain “five‑nines” operational availability for LME core services. - Act as a subject‑matter expert in incident, change and problem management. - Participate in on‑call and weekend rotation to support 24/7/365 availability. - Drive automation and self‑healing practices to reduce manual toil. **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Reliability Engineering** – embed SRE practices (error budgets, SLIs/SLOs, proactive monitoring) into day‑to‑day operations. 2. **Platform Management** – design, build, migrate, optimise and support physical, virtual, Openshift and Kubernetes environments. 3. **CI/CD & IaC** – design, implement and maintain pipelines (Bamboo, BitBucket) and IaC (Ansible Tower). 4. **Observability** – create and maintain Grafana/Prometheus dashboards, Splunk log analytics, and offensive monitoring rules. 5. **Incident Response** – triage, root‑cause analyse, and remediate incidents across network, database, infrastructure and application layers. 6. **Change Management** – validate and test changes, ensure QA and automated testing pipelines. 7. **Security & DR** – manage disaster‑recovery procedures, remediate vulnerabilities, conduct chaos engineering and resiliency exercises. 8. **Collaboration** – liaise with production teams, business stakeholders, project teams, risk/security/GRC, and external vendors/auditors. **Required Skills** - SRE methodology (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, monitoring). - Containerisation & orchestration: Openshift, Kubernetes. - CI/CD tooling: Bamboo, BitBucket. - IaC: Ansible (Tower). - Observability: Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk. - Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell. - SQL & database: MySQL, Oracle, Liquibase. - Incident, change and problem‑management processes. - Security vulnerability identification and remediation. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field **or** 5+ years of equivalent professional experience. - Relevant certifications in Cloud/Kubernetes, CI/CD, or security may be preferred.
