Job title: Kubernetes Platform Tech Manager
Role Summary: Lead regional application engineering for vSphere Kubernetes Service (vKS), driving enterprise adoption of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and Kubernetes as the standard private cloud platform. Combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to deliver scalable, customer‑centric solution architectures and build high‑performance engineering teams.
Expactations: • Define and execute regional strategy aligned with global vKS vision
• Influence enterprise CIO/CTO roadmaps and champion VCF + vKS as the preferred Kubernetes platform
• Lead solution design across container, infrastructure, and DevOps domains
• Partner with sales to validate solutions, scope professional services, and ensure seamless delivery handoffs
• Capture field feedback to steer product direction for VCF + vKS
• Build, mentor, and scale a multi‑site team of application engineers
Key Responsibilities: • Translate global product strategy into actionable EMEA programs and adoption metrics
• Engage executive stakeholders in strategic accounts and shape Kubernetes adoption roadmaps
• Architect end‑to‑end containerized solutions, ensuring integration with customer platforms and infrastructure
• Collaborate with regional account executives for presales support, technical validation, and PS scoping
• Aggregate customer insights and relay to product teams to influence feature development
• Recruit, coach, and develop a geographically distributed application engineering team, establishing best‑practice frameworks and enablement models
• Travel up to 50 % to meet customers and partners on‑site
Required Skills: • 10+ yrs enterprise application engineering, 5+ yrs cloud‑native/Kubernetes
• Proven expertise in Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Open Source tools, and enterprise deployment practices
• Experience leading technical teams across a region (directly or matrixed) and influencing executive decision‑makers
• Deep knowledge of VCF, vKS, and competing platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE, OpenShift) with a preference for OpenShift
• Strong understanding of cloud‑native architectures: microservices, APIs, event‑driven design, and CI/CD
• Ability to design and author YAML for resources and pipelines
• Familiarity with middleware, databases, API management, and modern application frameworks (e.g., Spring, React) is a plus
• Knowledge of high‑availability, scalability, compliance (RTO/RPO, DR, backup) in regulated enterprise environments
• Experience in sales‑enablement, business development, and delivery collaboration
• Tactical grasp of networking, storage, and infrastructure foundations relevant to Kubernetes deployments
Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience accepted)
• CNCF certifications (CKA, CKAD, or relevant Kubernetes Associate/Professional credentials)
• Additional certifications in VMware Cloud Foundation, OpenShift, or cloud‑native platform are highly desirable.
