Job Description
Job Title: Software Engineer Role Summary: Design, develop, and deliver high‑performance software for defence, space, and energy clients, primarily in simulation, autonomous systems, and digital twin domains. Work independently or in small teams, translating client requirements into robust, maintainable code while engaging stakeholders and presenting technical solutions. Expectations: Deliver top‑quality technical consultancy work; foster strong client relationships; pursue continual learning and rapid career growth; travel within the UK to client sites as required. Key Responsibilities: • Analyse requirements and create technical specifications for simulation, autonomous systems, and digital twin projects. • Design, code, test, and optimise software primarily using C/C++; extend with Python, C#, or Zig. • Integrate videogame engine technology (Unreal Engine, Godot) or entity‑based simulation frameworks. • Write clear technical reports and present findings to customers. • Maintain large codebases, ensuring performance and best‑practice compliance. • Support deployment on embedded or high‑performance hardware. Required Skills: • Proven experience building performant software in a consultancy or mission‑critical setting. • Strong knowledge of software modelling, simulation, robotics, or autonomous systems. • Proficiency in C/C++; familiarity with Python, C#, Zig, and game‑engine APIs. • Mathematical or statistical problem‑solving skills applicable to applied science. • Excellent oral and written communication for client engagement. • Willingness to travel across the UK and work on client sites. Required Education & Certifications: • Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM or computing discipline. • Valid right to live and work in the UK. • Successful BPSS background check and SC clearance (or eligibility to obtain SC clearance).
