Job Title: Senior DVA Engineer
Role Summary: Lead dimensional variation analysis for new vehicle concepts, ensuring design meets quality, aesthetics, and manufacturability targets. Drive tolerance simulation, GD&T compliance, and cross‑functional integration across exterior, interior, and major systems.
Expactations: 24‑month fixed‑term contract, requiring flexibility for off‑site travel within the UK and Europe. Expect to influence design reviews, support engineering releases, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver DVA work within project schedules, validating vehicle concepts through 3DCS tolerance models.
- Sign off Engineering Releases and define vehicle‑level gap and flush targets with Perceived Quality.
- Develop dimensional control concepts, evaluate design‑process capability against critical quality targets.
- Generate tolerance simulation models, collate results, produce reports guiding concept optimization.
- Attend design reviews, raise lessons learned, and propose optimal design solutions.
- Log validated concerns in the faults management system.
- Advise on manufacturing assembly sequences and tooling philosophies.
- Serve as GD&T champion; ensure FT&A/GD&T comply with BS 8888/ISO 1101.
- Create datum strategies for jig/fixture design and measurement plans.
- Maintain and update internal training guides for 3DCS model creation.
- Mentor junior DVA engineers and expand team presence in the business.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to refine analysis processes.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in DVA, GD&T, and BS 8888 standard.
- Advanced experience with CATIA V5 and 3DCS tolerance analysis (or equivalent).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and methodical approach.
- Knowledge of SPC, statistics, process capabilities, and manufacturing processes for composites, polymers, stamped steel/aluminium, castings, and laminates.
- Familiarity with jig and fixture concepts.
- Experience in 8D or Practical Problem Solving.
- Self‑starter ability, initiative, and capability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Degree in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or related field (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience.
- Certifications in GD&T (BS 8888) and tolerance analysis tools preferred.
