**Job Title:** Chief Data Officer
**Role Summary:**
Senior executive responsible for developing and executing the enterprise data strategy, architecture, and governance across global platforms. Leads the creation of scalable data lakes, advanced analytics, and AI/ML capabilities while ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
**Expectations:**
- Influence executive leadership and align data initiatives with business objectives.
- Deliver end‑to‑end data solutions, from legacy migration to modern Azure-based platforms.
- Champion ethical, explainable AI and responsible data governance.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performance global data team.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Define and execute global data models, standards, and governance frameworks.
2. Architect migration from legacy systems to Azure SQL, Synapse, Lakehouse, and other modern platforms.
3. Integrate enterprise and customer systems using Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, Power Automate, API Management, and third‑party services (Workday, Snowflake, Informatica).
4. Build BI dashboards (Power BI) and advanced analytics to support data storytelling.
5. Develop technical roadmap for clinical, commercial, and corporate data capabilities.
6. Oversee middleware and API strategy, ensuring interoperability and security.
7. Lead cross‑functional collaborations with senior leaders to achieve ambitious data objectives.
8. Publish insights and represent the organization at industry conferences.
9. Promote enterprise‑wide AI/ML innovation through scalable data ecosystems.
10. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant privacy regulations.
**Required Skills:**
- Strategic leadership and executive communication.
- Data architecture & integration (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, Data Lake).
- API design, REST/SOAP, JSON, XML, EDI, and middleware (ESB, Message Broker).
- Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
- Data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, TOGAF, Azure Well‑Architected Framework).
- CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and agile delivery.
- Advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI ethics.
- Experience in CRO/Pharma or clinical research environments.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, privacy, and data security.
- Talent development and team leadership.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).
- Proven experience leading large‑scale data initiatives and cross‑functional teams.
- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer) or Microsoft Power Platform certifications.
