**Job title:** Summer Intern – Computer Science/Engineering & Data Science Majors
**Role Summary:** A 10‑week, full‑time internship (June 15 – August 31, 2026) focused on applying CS, engineering, and data science skills to the energy sector. Interns work within one of four departments—Gas Network Operations, Pipeline Safety & Compliance CI, Software Engineering, or Technology & Innovation—gaining hands‑on experience in data analysis, simulation, software development, and process automation.
**Expectations:**
- Current undergraduate students (3 + years completed) or recently graduated students.
- Proactive learner willing to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on analytical or development tasks and take initiative in project contributions.
**Key Responsibilities (across all tracks):**
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets using SQL, Python, or other relevant tools.
- Develop or maintain simulation models, dashboards, or data pipelines to support operational or safety decisions.
- Design, code, and deploy software components (REST APIs, React front‑end, back‑end services) or automation scripts (Python, Power Automate).
- Integrate AI/ML techniques for risk assessment, forecasting, or process improvement.
- Perform testing, documentation, and walk‑throughs with stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and project management activities.
**Required Skills:**
- Programming: SQL (including stored procedures), C#, Python, React/JavaScript, or equivalent.
- Data tools: Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, SSRS, Power Automate; familiarity with data visualization.
- Software development: API design, version control (Git), debugging, unit testing.
- Analytical: statistical analysis, data modeling, simulation fundamentals.
- Regulatory familiarity: API 1173, PSMS standards (preferred).
- Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Coursework in software development, data analytics, database systems, and, where applicable, engineering safety or systems analysis.
- No mandatory certifications; optional knowledge of pipeline safety or AI tools is desirable.
