Job Description
**Job Title:** Computer Vision Data Scientist **Role Summary:** Develop and deploy advanced computer vision algorithms—including deep learning (CNNs, transformers) and classical techniques—for veterinary microscopy imaging platforms. Collaborate with cross‑functional clinical, engineering, and product teams to deliver robust image analysis pipelines on embedded devices and GPUs. **Expectations:** - Design, prototype, and validate image discrimination solutions for cytology analysis. - Optimize models for resource‑constrained hardware. - Guide junior imaging scientists and document technical work. - Stay current with CV/ML research and apply innovations to real‑world problems. **Key Responsibilities:** - Create and implement supervised and unsupervised CV algorithms (feature extraction, morphological ops, edge detection). - Build, train, and evaluate CNN/transformer models for classification, segmentation, or detection tasks. - Develop end‑to‑end image processing pipelines resilient to varying imaging conditions. - Optimize and port models to embedded systems and NVIDIA GPUs. - Conduct experiments, benchmarking, and statistical performance analysis. - Produce technical documentation and validation reports. - Collaborate with engineers, clinicians, and product stakeholders to meet clinical requirements. - Mentor junior data scientists. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in Python; strong experience with PyTorch. - Solid foundation in both classical computer vision and modern deep learning methods. - Experience designing, training, and evaluating CNNs or similar architectures. - Knowledge of model optimization and deployment on constrained hardware. - Strong experimental design, dataset preparation, and performance evaluation skills. - Analytical problem‑solving with attention to detail. - Effective communication and teamwork abilities. - Familiarity with AWS (preferred) and ML workflow platforms such as Databricks (beneficial). - Interest or exposure to microscopy, digital cytology, or histopathology (plus). **Required Education & Certifications:** - M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or related field, **or** B.S. with relevant internship/project experience in computer vision. - No specific certifications required; demonstrated project/research experience in CV is essential.
