Job Description
**Job Title:** IT Support Apprentice **Role Summary:** A 16‑month apprenticeship delivering hands‑on IT support experience, primarily as the first point of contact on the service desk. The apprentice will log, classify, and prioritize incidents, provide remote assistance for hardware, software and networking issues, support Microsoft 365, perform daily backups, and maintain knowledge‑base documentation. **Expectations:** - Complete a Level 3 Information Communication Technician apprenticeship (12 months) plus a 4‑month gateway period. - Earn an A‑level equivalent qualification upon successful completion. - Attend 1‑on‑1 coaching, monthly live sessions, bi‑annual development days, and a 5‑day CompTIA A+ bootcamp. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Serve as the first contact on the IT Service Desk for colleagues, partners and stakeholders. 2. Log and track incidents/requests through the ITSM tool; ensure proper classification and prioritisation. 3. Deliver remote support for end‑user hardware, software and networking problems. 4. Conduct daily checks, including overnight backup verification. 5. Provide support for Microsoft and Office 365 applications. 6. Update and maintain knowledge‑base articles and internal documentation to improve support efficiency. **Required Skills:** - Fundamental IT knowledge: PC architecture, OS installation, configuration and maintenance, basic networking fundamentals. - Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance for hardware and software. - Basic networking and security concepts. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to expand knowledge of the Office 365 suite. - Strong organisational and multitasking abilities. - Excellent communication and customer‑service skills. - Adaptability to a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum: GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths (or Functional Skills Level 2+). - Level 3 Information Communication Technician apprenticeship (standardised by LDN Apprenticeships). - Successful completion of the apprenticeship will award an A‑level equivalent qualification. - Optional: CompTIA A+ Certification (post‑bootcamp).
