**Job Title:** Senior Engineer I
**Role Summary:**
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services for Kaluza’s Energy Retail SaaS platform. Drive high‑quality code, mentor peers, and own services end‑to‑end, from architecture to production monitoring.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver reliable, high‑performing backend solutions in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross‑functional teams.
- Champion best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using TypeScript.
- Develop event‑driven systems and message‑queue integrations (e.g., Kafka) for real‑time features.
- Own services throughout lifecycle: architecture, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
- Optimize system performance and data models (SQL or NoSQL) and implement efficient database designs.
- Leverage AWS cloud services, including serverless architectures, to build resilient solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, review code, and foster an engineering culture of knowledge sharing.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong backend development experience with TypeScript (or rapid learning ability).
- Proficiency in event‑driven architecture, message queues, and real‑time processing.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS (EC2, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Database design, optimization, and maintenance (SQL or NoSQL).
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring capabilities.
- Self‑starter with a proactive mindset; thrives in ambiguous settings.
- Bonus: Experience with React or front‑end development.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- No mandatory certifications, but relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect) preferred.
