IT Field Service Engineer
Job Description
Job title: IT Field Service Engineer Role Summary: Field‑based IT support professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop, laptop, printer, Wi‑Fi, and interactive audio‑visual equipment for a diverse customer base across Sussex. Expectations: Deliver high‑quality, timely service within agreed SLAs; maintain professional customer interactions; manage asset inventory and documentation; operate a company vehicle and hold a valid full driving licence. Key Responsibilities: - Assemble and configure desktops, laptops, and printers with Windows 11 OS. - Perform onsite repairs on desktops, laptops, printers, access points, and IAV equipment. - Install and hand over new equipment, providing basic user training. - Maintain Wi‑Fi access points, replace printer toner, and support audio‑visual hardware. - Communicate with customers via phone, remote sessions, video conferencing, or email to fulfill equipment requests. - Conduct regular audits, inventory checks, and proper disposal of packaging. - Document all work in accordance with ITIL best practices and quality standards. - Demonstrate proactive, customer‑focused service while taking ownership of tasks. Required Skills: - Experience in 2nd line desktop support, IT field engineering, or technical support. - OR data cabling background with cable pulling, termination, testing, and wireless AP installation, plus desire to transition into IT. - Strong customer service orientation and empathy. - Proactive, self‑motivated, and team‑player with flexible attitude. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Full clean driving licence. Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum secondary education; higher qualifications in IT, networking, or related fields preferred. - Relevant ITIL or equivalent support certifications are an advantage.
