**Job Title:** AS400 Developer
**Role Summary:**
Specialist responsible for the development, maintenance, security, and support of applications on IBM i (AS400) platforms. Works closely with product and cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, improve operational processes, and ensure high‑quality delivery.
**Expectations:**
- Minimum 7 years of hands‑on AS400 development experience.
- Proven ability to work independently, solve complex problems creatively, and deliver results in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong commitment to quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, code, test, and maintain applications using RPG/LE, COBOL/400, SQL, CLP/CLLE, and related IBM i technologies.
- Collaborate with product owners and team members to gather requirements and produce technical specifications.
- Conduct problem analysis, data mapping, and use‑case modeling; produce clear documentation.
- Identify and resolve defects, performance bottlenecks, and operational inefficiencies.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand‑ups, retrospectives) and utilize JIRA for task tracking.
- Support integration and middleware components such as MQ, Data Queues, SFTP, and IFS.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentor junior developers as needed.
**Required Skills:**
- RPG/LE, COBOL/400, SQL, Query/400, QM Query, ASC Sequel, CLP/CLLE.
- Experience with DB2/400, TAATOOL, RDI, Arcad, MQ, Data Queues, SFTP, IFS.
- Proficiency with JIRA, ServiceNow, and version‑control/issue‑tracking tools.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- IBM i (AS400) certifications or relevant professional training are preferred but not mandatory.
