Job Description
**Job title:** Employee Relations Specialist **Role Summary:** Subject matter expert in employee relations, leading the resolution of complex ER cases, coaching managers, and shaping ER strategies and performance management frameworks to ensure fair, legally compliant outcomes and continuous improvement of people practices. **Expectations:** - Manage complex ER cases (discipline, grievance, performance, absence, welfare) independently, delivering timely and legally sound outcomes. - Coach and influence managers at all levels to build ER capability and strengthen organizational culture. - Maintain and update ER policies, processes, and templates, ensuring alignment with current employment law and company values. - Own the performance management framework, embed it across the organization, and drive continuous performance improvement. - Line‑manage a People Advisor, supporting development and operational delivery. - Oversee third‑party HR service relationships, ensuring high service levels and value alignment. - Analyze ER and performance trends, produce actionable insights, and report to senior leadership. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead resolution of complex ER cases and coordinate with external legal specialists as needed. - Provide expert coaching on ER issues to managers, fostering confidence and capability. - Own development and continuous improvement of ER policies, processes, and guidance materials. - Analyze ER data and trends; deliver insights and recommendations to People Operations leadership. - Own and sustain the “Amplifying Performance” framework; ensure integration with organizational goals (V2MOM). - Partner with L&D to design and deliver training and resources that build ER and performance competencies. - Line‑manage a People Advisor, supporting coaching, performance evaluation, and professional development. - Manage relationships with external agencies, ensuring service levels and outcomes meet internal standards. **Required Skills:** - Generalist HR experience, with a strong focus on employee relations and performance management. - In‑depth knowledge of UK employment law, ER best practices, and case‑management processes. - Independent, confident handling of complex ER cases, including engagement with external legal counsel. - Proven coaching, influencing, and change‑management skills across all levels. - Experience managing third‑party HR services or agencies. - Ability to implement and embed performance frameworks into organizational culture. - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and confidentiality handling. - Resilience and alignment with core HR values. **Required Education & Certifications:** - CIPD qualification or progressing toward chartered membership (desirable).
