Job Description

Job Title: J2EE Developer Role Summary Senior Java developer tasked with designing, developing, and migrating Java microservices to Microsoft Azure. Lead a distributed team in an onshore‑offshore model and support ongoing enhancements and Java version upgrades. Expectations * Contract length: 6 months * Hybrid onsite/hybrid (Chicago, IL) engagement * Deliver high‑quality microservices on schedule * Drive code reviews, architecture discussions, and knowledge transfer within the team Key Responsibilities * Design and implement Spring Boot–based microservices for complex business requirements. * Lead Java version upgrades and refactoring initiatives. * Oversee migration of existing PCF‑hosted Java applications to Azure (AKS, App Service, or Spring Cloud services). * Collaborate with DevOps to set up CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions. * Mentor and coordinate onshore and offshore developers; facilitate daily stand‑ups and sprint reviews. * Ensure adherence to coding standards, security best practices, and performance metrics. * Resolve production incidents and conduct root‑cause analysis. Required Skills * 5+ years of Java development (Java 8/11/17). * Deep experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architecture. * Proven Azure knowledge: App Service, AKS, Azure DevOps, Service Bus, Azure Functions. * Familiarity with PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) migration patterns. * Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). * CI/CD pipeline design, Git, Maven/Gradle. * Strong communication, leadership, and Agile experience. Required Education & Certifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. * Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE, or similar.
