Job Description
**Job Title:** ER & HR Manager **Role Summary:** Leads operational HR support and employee‑relations (ER) services for a multi‑subsidiary utility group. Provides senior oversight of HR administration, onboarding, first‑line manager/employee support, and complex ER case management while ensuring compliance, data integrity, and alignment with broader HR strategy. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality, timely HR services across the group. - Maintain legal compliance and data‑protection standards. - Build strong executive relationships and influence at ExCo level. - Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a culture of inclusivity. **Key Responsibilities:** - Oversee HR Support team; partner with Team Leader to manage daily service delivery and performance metrics. - Ensure seamless coordination with Payroll for starters, leavers, and contractual changes. - Lead ER function, supervising two ER Advisors and handling complex disciplinaries, grievances, performance and absence cases, and Employment Tribunal claims. - Develop, update, and enforce ER policies/procedures in line with current legislation. - Provide expert ER guidance to managers and HR colleagues; collaborate with legal counsel as needed. - Analyze ER data to identify trends and implement corrective actions. - Align HR Support, ER, and People Partner processes for effective issue resolution. - Conduct training and coaching on ER topics to build business capability. - Support large‑scale change initiatives (TUPE, M&A) and drive HR process improvements. **Required Skills:** - Strong commercial acumen; ability to balance people priorities with business needs. - Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills at all levels. - Strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and decisive decision‑making. - In‑depth knowledge of employment law, regulatory requirements, and HR best practices. - Experience with data analysis to spot trends and drive solutions. - Leadership capability to develop, coach, and motivate HR teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Professional HR qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 5/7 or equivalent) – strongly preferred. - Extensive HR experience in complex, fast‑paced environments; proven track record in managing shared‑service HR teams. - Demonstrated experience handling high‑complexity ER issues and Employment Tribunal cases. - Experience in change management, TUPE, and M&A contexts.
