Job Description

Job Title: Staff Software Engineer Role Summary: Lead end‑to‑end design and delivery of scalable, data‑centric software for a carbon‑emissions analytics platform. Own architectural decisions, spearhead major feature builds, and mentor junior engineers while aligning technical direction with product goals. Expactations: • Own large‑scale projects from concept to production • Balance speed of delivery with reliability, data quality, and auditability • Drive technical standards, code reviews, and continuous improvement across the team • Collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Sustainability teams to translate requirements into robust solutions Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement core system components—API layers, data ingestion pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. • Architect and deploy scalable, cloud‑native services using Python and TypeScript. • Lead implementation of IaC/Terraform and CI/CD pipelines for automated, secure releases. • Mentor and coach engineering peers, setting coding standards and facilitating knowledge transfer. • Resolve complex production incidents, ensuring uptime and data integrity. • Partner with Product Managers to evaluate feasibility, estimate effort, and prioritize features. • Engage with cross‑functional stakeholders (Sales, Customer Success, Carbon teams) to understand use cases and refine product delivery. Required Skills: • 8+ years experience building complex, high‑user‑volume software. • Deep expertise in modern web applications, distributed systems, and cloud‑based architecture. • Proficient in Python and TypeScript; ability to write clean, maintainable code. • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and modern CI/CD pipelines. • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills. • Bonus: data‑intensive system design, SaaS/enterprise application experience. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
