Job Description
**Job Title:** Teacher of German and French **Role Summary:** Part‑time (0.8) teaching position covering French and German for a secondary academy. The role is a maternity cover commencing 9 March 2026, with contract duration until 8 March 2027 or the early return of the regular staff member. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons in French and German. - Apply the academy’s curriculum framework and assessment policy consistently. - Participate in regular CPD and subject‑based professional development. - Support students’ academic progress and personal development. **Key Responsibilities:** - Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for targeted age ranges, ensuring curriculum coverage. - Design formative and summative assessments aligned to learning outcomes. - Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate record‑keeping. - Collaborate with colleagues in planning, assessment, and student support. - Contribute to the school’s culture of learning, fostering a safe, inclusive environment. - Attend academy and department meetings, workshops, and CPD sessions. **Required Skills:** - Fluent proficiency in both German and French (speaking, writing, and listening). - Strong subject knowledge and ability to adapt content to diverse learners. - Lesson planning, assessment design, and classroom management. - Digital literacy, including use of learning platforms and online assessment tools. - Effective communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents. - Commitment to continuous professional development. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in French or German Studies (or equivalent). - Valid teaching qualification (PGCE, DTQCS, or equivalent Qualified Teacher Status). - Experience teaching both French and German at the secondary level is preferred.
