**Job Title**
Mergers and Acquisitions Specialist (M&A Business Analyst)
**Role Summary**
Provide analytical and operational support throughout the M&A lifecycle, focusing on stranded cost analysis, data consolidation, and automated reporting. Deliver clear, consistent data baselines and actionable insights that enable decision‑making for deal teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
**Expectations**
* Produce accurate, repeatable cost baselines for each transaction
* Identify stranded costs, drivers, risks, and mitigation opportunities
* Deliver automated dashboards and reporting packs that track TSA recovery, variances, and pipeline impact
* Maintain high data quality through rigorous testing, validation, and governance
* Serve as a liaison among finance, technology, operations, and programme teams, ensuring requirements are captured, documented, and met
**Key Responsibilities**
* Collect, consolidate, and cleanse data from finance, operations, regional cost bases, TSA models, and vendor files
* Analyze cost structures to identify stranded costs, cost‑driver trends, risks, and possible mitigations
* Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reporting packs for leadership visibility
* Collaborate with M&A technology and functional SMEs to define scope, capture requirements, and determine data needs
* Document and manage business and technical requirements, ensuring alignment across cross‑functional teams
* Support pre‑completion activities: data verification, cutover readiness, scenario analysis, and governance reporting
* Conduct data testing and validation to ensure accuracy before deal closure and hyper‑care phases
**Required Skills**
* Advanced analytical and data consolidation capabilities
* Strong data structuring and modeling skills; ability to create repeatable templates
* Experience with Power BI, advanced Excel, and automation tools (e.g., VBA, scripting)
* Requirements management and documentation expertise
* Project coordination; familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices
* Excellent written and verbal communication; stakeholder engagement proficiency
* Cross‑border work management and compliance with regulatory data‑handling requirements
* Risk, issue, and progress tracking with clear reporting
**Required Education & Certifications**
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data/Analytics, or a related field
* No mandatory sector experience, though prior BP or energy sector background is a plus
