**Job Title:**
Senior In‑House Lawyer – Gen AI, Legal Tech & Data
**Role Summary:**
Provide senior legal counsel on emerging technology and data privacy matters for a global law firm. Lead policy development, training, and advisory functions within the General Counsel and Risk department, ensuring compliance with evolving statutes and professional obligations.
**Expectations:**
- Maintain up‑to‑date expertise on laws, regulations, and industry standards related to Gen AI, artificial intelligence, and data privacy.
- Drive the creation and continuous improvement of firm‑wide policies and training programs.
- Collaborate with legal, business‑services, and technical teams across multiple time‑zones.
- Deliver clear, actionable guidance on data handling, collection, and retention.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Monitor legislative developments and regulatory guidance on emerging technologies and data protection.
- Draft, review, and update policies, procedures, and training materials for Gen AI and data use.
- Advise colleagues on legal and professional obligations concerning AI systems, data collection, use, maintenance, location, and retention.
- Coordinate risk‑management initiatives related to technology adoption.
- Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on compliance requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between the firm’s legal counsel, business services, and external regulatory bodies.
**Required Skills:**
- In‑depth knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and emerging technology regulations.
- Experience with Gen AI, AI‑assisted legal technology, or a strong interest in these areas.
- Strong analytical, writing, and policy‑development abilities.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills for working with senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to manage projects across multiple time‑zones and cultural contexts.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Qualified lawyer (e.g., LLB, JD, or equivalent) with admission to the bar.
- Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in law, preferably with exposure to technology, AI, or data privacy.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GDPR, CIPP/E, or similar) are advantageous but not mandatory.
