Job Description

**Job Title** Software Development Engineer II, API **Role Summary** Develop, test, and maintain high‑volume, low‑latency backend services for mapping and navigation APIs. Design scalable systems, reduce technical debt, and support continuous delivery within a distributed cloud environment. **Expectations** - Deliver well‑defined tasks on schedule with high quality. - Design and implement systems that scale with rapid growth. - Write unit tests, maintain documentation, and participate in on‑call rotations. - Mentor peers, share knowledge, and promote a culture of operational excellence. - Communicate findings and decisions clearly to cross‑functional teams. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Build and optimize RESTful and real‑time APIs for maps and navigation. 2. Leverage AWS services (CDK, ECS, Fargate, Step Functions, Lambda, S3) to deploy scalable micro‑services. 3. Collaborate with product and data teams to scope features and define technical requirements. 4. Perform code reviews, unit/integration testing, and performance tuning. 5. Operate in a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. 6. Monitor and troubleshoot production systems; participate in on‑call rotation. 7. Reduce technical debt and document architectural decisions. **Required Skills** - 5+ years of backend development with Python or NodeJS/TypeScript. - Deep experience with AWS cloud services (CDK, ECS/E Fargate, Lambda, Step Functions, S3). - Strong Git-based version control (GitHub). - Proven ability to design scalable, low‑latency systems. - Proficient in writing automated tests (unit, integration). - Experience with asynchronous and event‑driven architectures. - Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to mentor junior engineers. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience. - No specific certifications required, though knowledge of cloud or security standards is a plus.
