Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform
Role Summary:
Lead the design, build, and operation of enterprise‑scale data ingestion, transformation, and governance platforms. Own end‑to‑end data pipelines across batch and streaming workloads, define technical standards, and ensure reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Expectations:
- Deliver high‑impact infrastructure from day one with autonomy and architectural ownership.
- Drive platform strategy, build‑vs‑buy decisions, and integration patterns adopted company‑wide.
- Mentor junior engineers, elevate code quality, and champion best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain self‑serve ETL/ELT frameworks for batch and streaming.
- Own pipeline reliability, data quality SLAs, and schema evolution.
- Define data contracts, onboard new domains, and scale ingestion while preserving governance.
- Architect and enforce data lineage, schema registry, and access controls; maintain compliance with SOX, PII, and fintech regulations.
- Monitor, alert, debug, and resolve platform incidents with production‑level urgency.
- Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and provide mentorship to mid‑level and junior staff.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of production data infrastructure ownership, not just pipeline development.
- Strong system‑design expertise with documented trade‑offs.
- Proficiency in Python or Java/Kotlin, emphasizing testing, quality, and maintainability.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Workflow orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and IaC (Terraform).
- Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Kinesis).
- Familiarity with dbt for data modeling and transformation.
- Built observability solutions: freshness monitoring, row‑level quality checks, schema drift detection, SLA dashboards.
- Experience in regulated environments (fintech, healthtech) with strict governance and audit requirements.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- No mandatory certifications specified.
