Senior Manager, Smart Building Solutions
**Role Summary**
Lead a regional team of Business Development Managers (BDMs) focused on acquisition of Energy Efficiency and Infrastructure Renewal projects in the U.S. Eastern and Central regions. Drive consultative sales, develop pipeline, mentor staff, and align sales activities with company growth objectives.
**Expectations**
- Report to Executive Director of Regional Sales.
- Manage a geographically dispersed BDM team (government and SLED/MUSH verticals).
- Travel 60 % of time across the U.S. (IL, OH, MI, IN, PA, TN, MD, NJ, WV).
- Own sales performance metrics, budget oversight, and go‑to‑market strategy implementation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day oversight for BDMs, ensuring pipeline health and quota attainment.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews, validate data, and collaborate on proposals and presentations.
- Mentor BDMs on consultative selling, industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics.
- Expand territorial visibility by cultivating relationships with prospects, clients, and partner contacts.
- Develop and refine sales strategies aligned with the company’s energy efficiency initiatives.
- Monitor key performance indicators, adjust tactics, and report progress to senior leadership.
- Manage sales overhead budget and resource allocation.
- Support BDMs during client meetings and sales events as needed.
**Required Skills**
- Proven leadership of sales teams in the energy solutions or building technology sector.
- Strong consultative selling and account‑management abilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze sales data, forecast, and adjust strategy.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and sales tools.
- Comfortable with frequent travel and working across multiple time zones.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 7–10 years of progressive sales experience, including at least 3 years in a management role, ideally within the smart building or energy efficiency market.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., BOMA, IES, or energy‑related credentials) preferred but not mandatory.
