Job Description
Job Title: System Integration Engineer (Contract) Role Summary: Lead and execute integration, testing, qualification, and acceptance of complex sonar and sensor systems within the maritime defence sector, ensuring compliance with MoD and European standards. Expactations: - Deliver end‑to‑end system integration across all lifecycle stages. - Produce and validate technical documentation (test spec, procedures, reports, design data packs). - Identify, mitigate, and document technical risks and opportunities. - Collaborate with hardware, software, and firmware teams to achieve operational performance and rapid fault resolution. - Represent the project at factory and external acceptance events, maintaining strong supplier and customer relationships. - Uphold safety, reliability, through‑life support, and health‑and‑safety standards. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct integration & qualification activities, including fault‑finding and corrective actions. - Develop and review test specifications, procedures, and reports. - Liaise with engineering teams to ensure system meets performance requirements. - Engage with external test houses for MoD and European certification (CE/UKCA marking). - Update and maintain design data packs (BOM, schematics, change notes) per procedures. - Participate in acceptance events and safety/reliability planning. - Communicate results to internal and external stakeholders, customers, and suppliers. Required Skills: - Proven experience in system testing and integration, preferably defence‑related. - Understanding of the full system lifecycle (design, development, test, integration, acceptance). - Strong analytical skills to assess acceptance requirements and produce verification evidence. - Basic knowledge of electronics, software, and firmware principles for fault‑finding. - Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation. - Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and work collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders. - Valid SC UK security clearance; UK nationality preferred but not mandatory. Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum BSc in Engineering, Maths or Science, or equivalent experience. - Familiarity with MoD equipment test standards and European certification processes.
