Service Now Mapping Specialist
**Role Summary**
Senior ServiceNow professional responsible for architecting, configuring, and validating Service Mapping solutions within large enterprise or government environments. Leverages over five years of ServiceNow platform experience with a specialized focus on ITOM Service Mapping, Discovery, CMDB, and CSDM implementation to maintain accurate configuration data and service visibility.
**Expactations**
- Deliver comprehensive, production‑ready Service Mapping patterns that reflect real‑world application dependencies.
- Ensure ongoing accuracy of CMDB, Discovery, and IRE data for business services.
- Resolve mapping failures related to credentials, connectivity, network constraints, and data quality.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and network stakeholders to validate dependencies and maintain service health.
- Produce clear documentation and maintain best‑practice standards for enterprise ServiceNow configurations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, configure, and deploy Service Mapping patterns using Pattern Designer.
- Validate Application Service Maps against CSDM 4.0/5.0 standards.
- Manage ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE) to keep configuration data aligned.
- Troubleshoot mapping issues involving credentials, network protocols, firewalls, and CMDB data quality.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, and network teams to map end‑to‑end application services.
- Maintain consistency and accuracy of legacy and partially documented systems within enterprise/government contexts.
- Document mapping designs, configuration changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
**Required Skills**
- 5+ years of hands‑on ServiceNow platform configuration and technical implementation.
- 3+ years of ServiceNow ITOM experience with a focus on Service Mapping and Discovery.
- Proficiency in Service Mapping patterns, Pattern Designer, CMDB, Discovery, and IRE.
- Deep understanding of Common Service Data Model (CSDM 4.0/5.0) and business service relationships.
- Ability to troubleshoot credentials, network connectivity, firewall restrictions, and CMDB data issues.
- Knowledge of infrastructure discovery protocols and networking fundamentals (WMI, SSH, SNMP, TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers such as F5).
- Experience collaborating across application, infrastructure, and network domains.
- Familiarity with aging legacy systems and partial application documentation in large enterprises or government settings.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or equivalent.
- ServiceNow Certified ITOM Implementation Specialist (preferred).
- ITIL Foundation certification (preferred).
