Job Description
**Job Title** Technical & Security Architect – Domain & DNS **Role Summary** Design, review and secure the architecture of the UK government domain space (.gov.uk) and related DNS services, ensuring resilience, compliance, and alignment with business strategy. **Expectations** - Deliver secure, scalable enterprise architecture blueprints. - Maintain trust and stability of public‑sector domain names. - Lead technical and non‑technical stakeholder interactions with a focus on risk‑managed decision making. **Key Responsibilities** - Create and review secure system architectures, patterns, and principles. - Analyze vulnerabilities, assess exploitability, and recommend mitigation. - Communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and manage expectations. - Resolve technical disputes, recommend decisions with controlled risk levels. - Apply and challenge architecture strategies, policies, standards, and roadmaps. - Translate business problems into secure technical designs across multiple services. - Stay informed on DNS, cryptographic mechanisms, packet routing, and Internet protocols. - Manage large, distributed domain environments and develop tools that interact with domain records. **Required Skills** - In‑depth knowledge of DNS, naming/numbering systems, cryptographic mechanisms, and packet routing. - Experience managing domains for large federated organisations. - Expertise in domain‑based security, vulnerability prevention, and tool development. - Strong architectural design capabilities and familiarity with security frameworks (GDPR, PCI DSS). - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills. - Risk assessment, strategic thinking, and dispute‑resolution ability. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience. - Recognised architecture qualification (e.g., TOGAF, BCS). - Demonstrated knowledge of architecture policies, standards, models, and security regulatory requirements.
