Job title: Data Modeler
Role Summary:
Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models across relational, dimensional, and NoSQL platforms. Implement and govern data architecture for RDBMS, AWS Redshift, ODS, data marts, and data lakes. Optimize query performance and support data strategy initiatives for client solutions.
Expactations:
- 4+ years in enterprise data modeling and design standards.
- Proven experience in governing data modeling practices, tools, and best practices.
- Hands‑on design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, and sandbox POCs.
- 1+ year exposure to Life and Annuity Insurance domain (preferred).
- Ability to work independently, manage project risks, and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a commitment to continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build conceptual, logical, and physical data models for client projects.
- Deploy and maintain RDBMS, AWS Redshift, ODS, data marts, and data lakes.
- Govern data architecture expansion and optimize query performance.
- Translate business and IT requirements into data strategies and designs.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and solution teams to implement data flows and models.
- Identify and recommend new technologies to enhance data solutions.
- Conduct performance tuning, security configuration, and data quality checks.
- Document data models, standards, and governance policies.
Required Skills:
- Data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) for relational and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency with RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and data warehouses (AWS Redshift, Snowflake).
- SQL and data integration/ETL tools; experience with data lakes and data marts.
- Performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and data quality principles.
- Ability to create ER diagrams, data dictionaries, and mapping documentation.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.
- Life and Annuity Insurance domain knowledge (preferred).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications in data modeling or database technologies (e.g., TDWI, Microsoft, AWS Big Data, SAS Data Management) preferred.
